Bioremediation
Environmental recovery or reinstatement of contaminated soil using biological methods
Biosparging
Technique for in-situ treatment of unsaturated contaminated soils consisting in injecting nutrients and air in order to promote biodegradation of the microbial flora present.
Certification
Declaration issued by specific supervisory and control authorities relating to the achievement of international quality standards.
Clarification
Elimination of the turbidity of a liquid through sedimentation and filtering with the addition of suitable substances.
CO2
Code indicating carbon dioxide; is the product of oxidation of carbon compounds contained in fuels used. Is a greenhouse gas.
Cogeneration
In the most widely accepted definition of the term, indicates joint, concurrent production of electric energy and heat.
More generally, means concurrent generation of several secondary energy sources from a single primary source. For example, the joint production of electric energy and heat at a thermo-electric power station where the steam leaving the turbine is condensed into hot or superheated water that can be used for air conditioning or other industrial purposes.
Collection (in a water system)
Activity of collecting water in order to convey this to a plant.
