Cogeneration
(WHIRLPOOL – Cassinetta di Biandronno (Va) plant)
Whirlpool, one of the most famous multinationals in the domestic appliances sector, operates in 170 countries world-wide with more than 70,000 employees, of which 5,000 in Italy distributed at 5 production sites all over the country.
Whirlpool has chosen Fenice as its energy partner for the Cassinetta di Biandronno site in the Varese area – currently one of the largest in Europe with close on 3,000 employees and a production of 10,000 parts per day.
The modern cogeneration facility able to produce 13 MW of electricity and 36 MW of heat now being set up will be able to meet the electricity and heat requirements of the entire Cassinetta site. The new installation, to be built on the edge of the protected nature area of the lake of Varese, will be constructed by Fenice in compliance with current regulations on atmospheric emissions, using high performance machines.
Selecting Fenice as its energy partner for the construction and management of its new cogeneration facility, Whirlpool will optimise its energy balance, with also significant savings, confirming its commitment in Italy in a highly competitive sector.
