Solid industrial waste
Effective, efficient waste management implies in-depth knowledge of waste-generating processes and also specific expertise in order to foresee the type and quantity of waste produced and, therefore, to organise collection, sorting and storage and to select the most efficient recycling and/or disposal methods.
Having acquired specific industrial expertise in this sector, EDF Fenice is able to set up and operate the structures and platforms necessary to manage the entire waste cycle, providing a complete management service and carrying out all the activities tied to:
- Characterisation of the waste (chemical-physical analyses, assignment of EWC* type codes)
- Selective collection from the initial phases of the processes (optimising the costs)
- Pre-treatment, reduction of volume, handling and storage inside specific “ecological islands”
- Safe management of waste
- Compliance with the administrative formalities required to obtain authorisations and also regarding correct management (forms and registers)
EDF Fenice assures the respect of the SISTRI (system for waste traceability and control) as specified by the Italian Ministry of the Environment. The registration to this IT device is compulsory - from the 1st of June 2011 - for all companies producing, treating or moving special waste. The IT-based control of the entire special waste chain simplifies procedures and fulfilments, reducing the costs faced by companies and enabling a more efficient and more transparent process.

(*) The EWC, an acronym for “European Waste Catalogue”, is a documents forming part of European waste and environmental regulations that defines more than 300 codes identifying the same number of different types of waste. Today, companies operating in the waste sector, on their own behalf or on behalf of third parties, must hold a specific licence that indicates the types of waste, identified by the EWC codes, they are authorised to dispose of or treat.
